Fossilized shark tooth is commonly found in the rocks that age from Devonian to last ice age spanning about 400 million years ago.

About 200 years ago European palaeontologist began the scientific study on fossilized shark tooth the great diversity of shark tooth forms they found spurred them into naming many questionable species.

All of these supposed species caused many confusions about the evolution of sharks. The abundance of shark tooth is due to their denseness and mineral composition and due to their rapid continual replacement in the sharks jaws. As per the studies done by researchers ; that the living sharks shed off their teeth in every 7 days ;this rate of replacement may change in adults to one or two years.
