AN ANCIENT TEMPLE BUILT ON FOSSIL RICH ROCK.

Palaeontology is said to be a field were researchers study about pre-historic animals and its adaptation on Earth ;which is an Endangered field presently but, an Ancient Temple defines Palaeontology was unknown field thousands of year ago too. Let me introduce all to a 600 year old PRALAYAKALESWARAR temple in southern part of India,at Pennadam, were the whole temple including sculptures on the walls of the temple are made up of limestones which contained lot of fossils which belongs to the Phyllum Gastropoda, Lamellibranchia, Oystridea and Cnidarian. As we see no ammonites,in all probability, Ninniyur formation limestone might be used to construct.

This Temple was erected by Kochchenganan Cholan ,lord shiva's devotee who is one among 63 Nayanmars.
