FACTS ABOUT PERMIAN PERIOD

The Permian period of Palaeozoic era extincted in a largest mass extinction . Our Earth has not experienced such furious and aggressive extinction earlier. The oxygen level during the period was oscillating unanimously. In The beginning of the period oxygen level was about 30% by the end of the huge mass extinction the oxygen level dropped down to 16% and over the next 10 million years the oxygen level dropped down to 12% percent.

Since, the lush swap forest of the Carboniferous period was existing during the Permian period soon the organisms had the chance to regenerate; plants like seed ferns, conifers and other drought resistant plants.This spread the lush green blanket a path for all kind of organisms to live again.

Early reptiles were placed to capitalize the new Environment with the help of their thick shielded and moisture retaining skin. The Permian however represented a large disaster for prehistoric animals. The Permian period and the Palaeozoic era turned out to be calamitous. Marking a huge biologically dividing line that was crossed by certain animals. No organism would have thought that Permian extinction could wipe of nearly 90% of marine species and 70% of land species. Yet! the destruction was high new species of animals and plants have evolved to fill the void; least among them were the dinosaurs.
